Showcasing DVB-I for Instant Channel List Setup on SES Satellites at IBC 2024

We are looking forward to participating in this year’s International Broadcasting Convention (IBC), the world’s leading broadcasting media and technology show. The event, taking place from September 13-16 in Amsterdam, is a hub for global innovation and collaboration in the broadcasting industry.

Our premium technology will be prominently featured through our collaboration with SES, the global satellite operator. Together, we will demonstrate the power and simplicity of DVB-I, one of the latest and most promising standards in digital TV reception. Visit the DVB booth in
Hall 1, Stand 1.B71 to see our technology in action and learn more about how we are enhancing digital TV reception with DVB-I.

Since its introduction in 2019, DVB-I has garnered significant attention for its innovative approach to channel management. At IBC 2024, SES and TARA Systems will showcase a practical application of DVB-I. The SES/HD+ set-top box, produced by Newland, powered by the Montage Symphony 4 chip and running on a Linux system, will feature our software. This software is based on our Inaris DVB Middleware and TVolution Turnkey Application and was extended specifically for SES. It has been continuously developed since 2016 and serves as the basis for any market-specific customisations. This software has been very successful in the market for SES HD+ television in Ghana.

Our collaboration for the IBC 2024 highlights how the set-top box receives and organises channel lists via satellite using DVB-I. At IBC 2022, we demoed regionalized DVB-I with the LiveOn TV App (Android TV), using an internet-based solution for the channel list and streams. This year, we are showcasing a purely satellite-based solution. When users select their country and region on the box, the corresponding, region-specific channel list is installed automatically. This aims to make channel list installation straightforward, quick and efficient, eliminating the hassle of manual searching and sorting.

Experience how TARA Systems’ software solutions, including the extension of DVB-I on the new Symphony 4 platform, are setting new standards in linear TV via satellite. Our Managing Director, Alexander Wass, and CTO, Manfred Schmidt, look forward to connecting with you at IBC 2024!
